Pinnacle Sawmill Automation is a sawmill equipment design and manufacturing company based in Plettenbergbay in the Garden Route area of South Africa. We focus on ensuring that our equipment and machines provide simple, solid, and affordable solutions for the sawmilling industry’s notoriously challenging environment. Our sawmill designs are customised to improve timber throughput, increase recovery, reduce power consumption and elevate overall sawmill efficiency. These key points enable our customers to achieve better profitability, thereby enhancing their competitive edge.

Our mill and equipment designs are interactive and customisable to fit customer needs and existing installations. Machine layouts are adaptable and easily integrated into existing sawmill lines. We provide constant access to support, both telephonic and on-site troubleshooting. As well as design and manufacture, we also offer on-site installation, training and commissioning.
The Pinnacle-SA Team
The Pinnacle-SA team have over 50 years of collective experience and involvement in the sawmilling industry. We have been in business since 1990, when our first bandsaw machine was built and sold in the Garden Route area. Since then, a plethora of different machines and systems have been developed and installed, and most of these installations and machines are still running today. We have supplied machines all over the world, including the USA, Germany, Japan, Romania, Australia, Croatia, Sudan, Kenya, Swaziland, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and at home in South Africa.
All Pinnacle-SA designs are drawn in SolidWorks 3D CAD drawings. The objective is to design robust equipment, preferably with “off the shelf” parts. We produce simple, strong equipment and machines that will perform efficiently and with as little downtime as possible for many, many years. We do not cut corners when it comes to the selection of steel sections and or machined components – our machines are strong and heavy, as is our material handling equipment. Heavy roll conveyors, belt conveyors and chain conveyors carry and move lumber between machines and in and out of the sawmill.

From small beginnings
Pinnacle-SA in 1990 built the first sawing machine; this was a bandsaw with a rolling table feedworks. The business was called Multisaw at that stage – due to a sale of designs in the 2010’s we decided to make a fresh start with all new products, and at the same time decided and opted for a new trading name.
Today, Pinnacle-SA offers equipment all the way through the sawmill from the log yard to the dispatch area. Certain machines and equipment require a certain amount of electronic control, the focus remains – strong, robust machinery.
